Marathon Training

In my high-vis for a night run!
Sorry I've been so absent, work has been crazy and I've been trying to fit in sleep wherever possible! So Monday marked 18 weeks until the dreaded big day. Gulp. I'm having very mixed feelings right now, it's just such a bloody long way!

I've got a training plan from my PT - I'm quite la-de-da these days with my PT and all - and he has broken it down for me. I'm training for the half marathon first and not thinking too much about the full. Yeah...okay. It does make more sense for me though and as someone who freaks out over every little thing, it's definitely a good approach to try. I'm using his plan in conjunction with the well known Hal Higdon plans which I know have helped many a runner cross the finish line.

So for now I'm running for time and not distance. I've not trained like this before but for the next 4 weeks, I'm going to try running for an hour and see where that takes me. I guess it's all a matter of trial and error as I have never had to cover such a distance before nor have I ever run for more than 2 hours and I'm guessing it's going to take me a bit longer than that for the mara!

Stay tuned, I'll do my best to keep you updated with my progress. I've got the half ironman in June too so training is stepping up a gear in general. To be honest when I say "stepping up" I mean getting up from the sofa, putting my cup of tea down and getting out the door...!
