Surround Yourself with Positivity

Jim Rohn once said that you are the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with. I work in relationship marketing and it is clear that those who surround themselves with success and happiness, are successful and happy people.

So who are the five people in your life? Are they lifting you up and making you better? Write down the five (or so) people in your life and then take a closer look at them. Who are they? Are they ambitious and successful? Are they happy and optimistic? Think carefully about the kind of people they are because consciously or not, they have quite an effect on you and your life.

I realised that in my life, I liked being around people who are positive and who only really say something when it's something uplifting. Not in a "yes man" kind of way but for example when you're struggling during a run, instead of saying "get on with it", I prefer someone who finds the positives and says something encouraging.

I've made some changes in my life recently keeping this idea of 5 people in mind. I've made more time for my friends, who make me laugh and make me feel good. I've spent more time training with people, rather than alone, who are happy, encouraging and constantly giving me tips to help me improve. At work, we hot desk so I've been choosing to sit with colleagues who are positive and don't moan for hours on end. If you have to sit with people for around 7 hours or so, it helps if they're happy!

It's definitely working for me, I feel happier and more positive. I can already see some small changes in my life and it feels really good. And if you need further convincing, here's a video of Jim Rohn and it's conclusive proof that he is just brilliant!
