Crawley 10k

I was going swimming on Sunday morning and a group of guys mentioned that they would be running after. I thought I'd take my things incase I felt like it and next thing I knew, I was signing up to a 10k trail run. After a long ass swim set my legs couldn't have felt less prepared but I ended up having a great time, even if I ran/walked pretty poorly.

Sussex XC League, Goodwood

It's that time of the year when you're not sure if you're going to get beautiful sunshine or cold, angry rain. It could be mild or desperately freezing. You may need wellies or be covered in mud, a winter coat, a rain jacket or just a could only mean one thing. Cross country time! On Saturday I went down to Goodwood for the Sussex Cross Country League.

I have just got back from a well deserved (in my opinion!) break in Barbados. The weather was a delicious 30 degrees and the sea was considerably more pleasant than Weymouth! It was nice to just do nothing; no bike or run and my only swims were snorkelling or lazing in the warm Caribbean sea. It felt good to eat whatever the heck I fancied and not think about things like protein shakes, only run punches!

Ironman 70.3 Weymouth

Ironman 70.3 Weymouth

Where do I even begin? Well, first with an apology for not blogging anything. I signed up for Ironman 70.3 Weymouth back in May and honestly I didn’t really want many people to know. I’ve had people feel like it’s their place to comment on what I’m doing  so I kept it quiet and did a little blogging but I lost track with the sheer volume of training in addition to work. It was one of the proudest weekends of my life. I am putting together a little race video but in the meantime, here’s my race report…

Training: Week 5

I've struggled a little this week with self doubt and motivation. I'm not sure if I can do it and I've felt old nerves creeping back in. I've tried to just focus on the training session ahead and "trust the process" but it's a scary thought; not finishing. I don't want to dwell on it so let's just stay positive and get into this week's training!

Training: Week 4

It was 32 degrees in London this week. That's right- 32! It has been an absolute dream, it's a shame we still have to go to work and can't lay out in the sun all day eating ice cream. As gorgeous as it's been, it's been really tough on the training side. I don't want to complain about the heat as we spend all our time wishing for it but it's too damn hot to train! I have struggled this week not just with doing it but the motivation too. The sun has made me so sleepy and sleeping at night is next to impossible so it's been a real uphill battle this week.

Training: Week 3

A bit of a pants week on the training front as I've had a bad cold. It came on all of a sudden on Sunday afternoon and I've been feeling it since. I've been sleeping with the fan at the foot of my bed and a hot water bottle tucked in with me! I had to take a few days off work and my lovely colleagues didn't want to be near me on my return, ha! A pretty short update for you this week..

Training: Week 2

Another week down and what an eventful week it's been! The sun has been replaced by the rain, I have woken myself up with a snore on train more times than I care to admit and we had a general election. I won't get into that but if you follow me on Twitter I'm sure you know exactly how I feel! Let's get to the good stuff.

New Month, New Challenges

Hiiii there! Well I'm not going to lie to you, #EveryDayMay died a sad and lonely death shortly after it had begun. It started so well but on the 12th (my birthday) I went out and then continued to go out for a few days which led to a week and then next thing you know, it's June!

I've found a new challenge for the middle of September so I thought I'd track my weekly progress and try to inspire/hold myself to my training plan and all the usual jazz.

#EveryDayMay Update

We're 12 days in and it's been going well! I have found a renewed enjoyment of going for a run which at points of marathon training, I didn't think I'd have again. It's been quite tough getting back into things and using cycle legs which have been dormant for almost a year. I've liked having something specific that gets me out the door and keeps me wanting to keep going. It's been a little warmer too which has made getting out after work a thousand times easier!

I have set myself a little challenge for the month of May. I'm going to try and do a swim, bike or run everyday during the month of May, hence the Every Day May!

I have quite a lot going on this month with a launch at work, a wedding, a girls spa weekend, my birthday and a family fun run! It'll be tough I'm sure but it's a good little challenge and a fun way for me to get back into the swing of things after such a long lovely holiday where I mainly ate and slept!

I'll try and keep you updated but I probably post more on Instagram so you can catch me on there! I'm @IAmAneesha if you fancy a follow :)
Let me know if you have set yourself any little challenges to keep you motivated or just for fun! It's a good way to get yourself going again after a little break and I'm really enjoying it so far.

Beat the Jiggle

Let's be honest, running can hurt quite a lot. It can hurt quite a bit more if you're not wearing the right sports bra, believe me! As a "bigger chested" girl, I have suffered through back pain and the struggle of trying to squeeze myself into sports bra that is a size or two too small so that I feel *extra* supported. Ridiculous when you say it out loud but sometimes there is just no other option.

Round Up; March

Blah March, whatever. Marathon training has really gone down the pan so I was surprised to find that I ran 66kms this month. I've felt really blah about training and lost a lot of motivation after some injury. I spent some time back in the pool which was lovely and I spend quite some time imagining cycling which I feel like is a sign that I'm feeling brave enough to get back on it! Finally!!

Marathon Training

Brighton Marathon is fast approaching and it would be a massive lie if I said I wasn't scared shitless. I'm going to be really honest and say I'm really under prepared and it's no one's fault but my own. I always over-commit to things and then end up giving them a bit of a sub par crappy effort instead of my best. It's annoying because it's something I seem do a lot and can't quite learn from. I thought I'd share the mistakes I think I've made in case it helps but also to try and hold myself accountable for the future.

Marathon Diaries

It is officially 3 weeks until the Brighton marathon... Cue the hysteria! I just wanted to write more of a chatty blog post and talk about how I feel about it all given some recent injury.

Give Your Metabolism a Boost

I dream of having the metabolism of a 12 year old. I'd love to eat whatever I want, when I want and to never gain a pound. Sadly for most of us this is what it will always be, a dream. But don't get down, recently I've been changing up my workouts and my appetite has sky rocketed but I haven't seemed to gain a thing! So here's what I've been getting up to.

Sports Bras

A very girlie post...sorry! Okay chicks, so you know the deal- you want to run or workout and not feel like your being smacked in the chest by..well...yourself. I know and I don't think it's asking for too much to feel supported and still look good at the same time. Besides if Kim Kardashian can work out with her bazongas, it must be possible- right?

Round Up: February

This month has flown by, I swear I say that every month but this one really has. I've blinked and it's now March. It's been a good month, not so wonderful for training but I've had a lot of fun. From running two half marathon to being invited to a fabulous Pro Direct Running/ Asics event as well as getting to grips with a new job, I have felt so happy and fulfilled this month.

Energy Gels

When I first started running and cycling more competitively, I had a ton of questions about gels and the best way to get some "quick energy". People told me what they used and what they liked but as I found, it's quite specific to the individual. There's no one perfect that will work for everyone on a taste level, energy level or that won't leave your tummy feeling a bit woozey. Yes, I said woozey.

Asics fuzeX Rush Trainers

I was lucky enough to be given a pair of Asics fuzeX Rush trainers to try by the lovely people at Pro Direct Running! I've filmed a little review of them if you're thinking of a new pair. Let me know if you've tried them and what you think :)

Swim Essentials

Okay so really you probably just need a cozzie and some goggles to get you started but that wouldn't make for a very interesting read nor would it be that helpful. I'm taking about if you want to get stronger, fitter and faster - which if you're like me - is always on my mind! Of course swimming lengths and doing drills will always help but there's some kit that will too.

Give a Girl the Right Shoes...

You know what they say, give a girl the right shoes and she can conquer the world. I like the attribute my shoe collection to this mantra. You never know when you're going to need another pair if black heels or yet more bright trainers! As much as I joke, it's important to wear the right shoe for the right type of sport. Yes, I also thought this was total consumer bullshit until I tried a few different pairs.

Endurance Life CTS Devon | Race Review Video

Following on from my blog post about the Endurance Life Coastal Trail Series in Devon, I made a video of the race! I hope you enjoy watching it, I loved taking part and completing my first trail half marathon! Already googling for more...

Endurance Life CTS Devon

Last Saturday, I toed the start line of the Endurance Life, Coastal Trail Series in Devon along with around 380 other runners. It was by far, the most challenging race I have ever taken part in; both physically and mentally. There is so much that I want to share that I feel like I won't do it justice so I have also made a video to go with this post which I will post in the next few days.

Round Up: January

January! First month of a new year; goals are fresh, motivation is fresh, the air is fresh! Yeah I'm cheesy I know but you know what I mean. It's the Monday of Mondays but without the huge sigh beforehand. I've decided that my marathon time isn't as important to me as I'd first obsessed over- it's my first one. I want to enjoy the experience and not do my usual Aneesha-obsessing over the time and ruin it when I don't achieve it to the second.

The Temple of Seitan

Seeing as I'm in full flow on the marathon training and my weeks are full of repetitive runs, I thought I'd film a fun day with my best friend Emma. We went to the infamous Temple of Seitan, in Hackney, to try out the deep fried "vegan chicken" that everyones been been talking about!

Winter Motivation

It is SO bloody cold at the moment and if you're like me, there's nothing you'd rather do more than snuggle in bed with Netflix, tea and biscuits! But if, also like me, you've got a race to train for this isn't really an option until post training. Getting out in the cold requires some single mindedness (of which I don't have much) and the power to say a big fat NO to putting it all off.

The India Vlog 3 | The Wedding

The last part of the 3 day long wedding extravaganza in India- the wedding itself! It wasn't in the resort like the other ceremonies beforehand but in Vadodara, where the bride is from. It was long, starting around 3pm and finishing around 1am. We indulged in our favourite family past time, photo taking and enjoyed the wedding celebrations. I hope you enjoy watching the last part of the wedding!

Nike Air Zoom Strong

One of my favorite Christmas pressies, thanks Santa! And before you judge me, I actually needed these shoes. That's right needed because if you read this post, you'll know that for the gym it's better to have a specific training show. Lucky for me, my parents and Santa are in constant communication and I was a very good girl last year.

The India Vlog 2 | The Vidhy & Sangeet

Part 2 of my adventures in India! We had the Vidhy which is a ceremony that takes place the day before the wedding. Couples do a vow renewal of sorts and the groom's sisters cover him in "pithi"- a yellow paste to make his skin clear and glory for the wedding to come. In the evening, we had the Sangeet night, full of dancing and fun!

Round Up: December

December feels like so long ago now! Since December 1st I feel like so much had happened; I've been to India and went to a big family wedding, training has been going well and I was invited to run in a race! Let's get to it..

Happy New Year!

Hello 2017!

I thought I'd share some of my new year's goals for the year with you. I'm always hesitant to have a load of resolutions as they are usually things like "eat less chocolate" and I'm done with that kind of negativity after a week! There are a few things I've set my sights on though...

The India Vlog 1 | The Mendhi Night

Hello, happy new year! As you will know if you follow me on Insta, I've been to India for a family wedding! It was absolutely amazing and I recorded the whole thing. It was a very long affair so I've had to break it up but grab a cuppa and some biccys and let me know what you think of Part 1- The Mendhi Night!
